The Lukumades Store is designed to introduce Greek hospitality and warmness to Riyadh in the UEA. Its cozy atmosphere is guaranteed by the extensive use of wood, from which most of the establishment’s furniture has been crafted. A wooden structure with a honeycomb-inspired decorative pattern also covers most of the ceiling, folding 90 degrees at the end of the room where the kitchen is situated. The open nature of this kitchen unlocks the relationship between the customer and the enigmatic production processes of Lukumades.
Other specially designed structures intensify the sense of warmness here: the vertical garden on the wall and a library which, in between its books, incorporates a digital illustration of the traditional production practices of Lukumades. The floor consists of a terrazzo mosaic, while white marble has been used for the tabletops, both of which reference the gorgeous interiors of traditional Greek houses.
